Cass Tech Hall of Famer
Ella Joyce

Named Cherron Hoye at birth, this distinguished Cass Tech Alum honored her mother and great-grandmother by using both of their first names to create the stage name Ella Joyce. Born in Chicago and raised in Detroit, Ella attended Eastern Michigan University after graduating from CT in 1972. Her talent and ambition eventually landed her in Hollywood, culminating in her portrayal of Eleanor Emerson in the hit TV series Roc opposite Charles S. Dutton. Her other credits include the movies Set It Off and The Old Settler and several stage performances. The former Cass Tech cheerleader even has the title of author (see book cover below). All of these accomplishments were rewarded when she was named recipient of the prestigious NAACP Image Award. Ms. Joyce epitomizes the phrase "Cass Tech Proud!"
