Cass Tech Hall of Famer
Carole Anne Marie Gist
Miss USA 1990
Miss USA 1990 is one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the halls of Cass Technical High School. Carole Gist, the first African American to hold the glamorous title of Miss USA, is affectionately called Cammie Gee by friends and family. She wore her crown with such grace and dignity that she was first runner-up for Miss Universe, losing only because she was nervous while answering the question of who was the most congenial of all pageant contestants. Her response of "my roommate" did not impress the judges enough. That's just how close she came. Ms. Gist did not allow this to stop her. She continued her reign and demonstrated the poise, intelligence, articulation and beauty that makes her a member of the Cass Tech Hall of Fame.
On Saturday, May 21, 2005, Carole served as the Mistress of Ceremonies at the ribbon-cutting black-tie gala fund-raiser held at the new state-of-the-art school. Ms. Gist did a wonderful job.
